Pokemon - The Later Years Pt 5

Outside of the Pokemon World Council's Headquarters Ash, Lance and Gary stood in an large courtyard.
There were dozens of trainers, coordinators, watchers and breeders gathered around some were conversing amongst themselves, whilst others were entering and leaving the World Council buildings.
Ash was still thinking about his new position, it was going to be a huge responsibility. He was still unsure as to what exactly Gary and Lance were going to help him do.
However, the prospects of his new position were exciting to him, he would be given the opportunity to battle many aspiring trainers who felt they were ready to advance to higher classes.
Lance and Gary were speaking amongst themselves, at first it was simply idle banter but they soon began speaking about Ash's position.
'So Ash, Gary was just saying that we need to get you up and running as soon as possible, especially if you want to enter the Master's Tournament in a few months time.' Lance said.
'Master's Tournament?' Ash said without a clue.
Gary shrugged with a grin, 'Still as clueless as ever aren't you Ashy. It's good to know that some things never change.'
'And here I was thinking you had stopped being a know-it-all, Gary.' Ash shot back.
Gary laughed, 'Haha! Good one buddy!'
Their friendship had grown a lot stronger over the years, especially during their last journey to the Sinnoh Region where they encountered Team Darkness who were trying to capturing the Legendary Alpha Pokemon, Arceus.
It was also during this journey that Ash and May got a lot closer, and Gary and Dawn got closer as well. Gary was now married to Dawn and the couple were expecting their first child soon.
'How is Dawn and the baby doing?' Ash asked.
'She's fine. Thankfully I managed to get my sister to take care of her and Grandpa whilst I've been covering all of Grandpa's duties.' Gary said.
'She's not too far off is she?' Ash asked.
'Yeah, another couple of months...' Gary said, he seemed a little distracted. Lance put his arm on Gary's shoulder and smiled.
'Why don't you fill in our clueless friend, Gary.' Lance said.
'Yeah, Ash, the Master's Tournament is a special Tournament held only once every four years. It's a very restigious tournament and you can only compete in it when you achieve a certain level of accolades.' Gary said.
'Wait a second, shouldn't I have already heard about this tournament? I've been competing in league tournaments since I was 10.' Ash said.
'You've been travelling so long Ash, you've never been in one place long enough to even hear about it!' Gary said.
'Oh right.' Ash acknowledged.
'It's the cream of the crop at this Master's Tournament, Ash. It'll be a true test of strength, determination and friendship.' Lance added.
'All right! Let's do it then! Let's get me entered!' Ash said as he dashed off.
'Wait! Do you even know where you're going?!' Gary said, 'You have to do other things first!!'
Ash looked at Lance and Gary sheepishly, 'Oh yeah... Sorry, I guess I just got carried away...'
Lance laughed and Gary rolled his eyes. Ash walked back to them and asked what needed to be done.
'First thing we need to do, Ash is get you established somewhere.' Lance said.
'Huh? What do you mean, established?' Ash asked.
'You honestly didn't expect to be taking challengers in Pallet Town did you?' Gary said, 'There'd be people everywhere. It'd disrupt the town's way of life.'
'Yeah, I guess you're right. I don't want to have people pestering my Mom or May...'
'May...huh?' Gary said slyly, 'That's right, she's moving to Pallet soon isn't she?'
'Yeah...' Ash said, 'So then... where would I have to go?'
'Think Ash, where would be a good place to accept challenges?' Lance asked, 'And not just anywhere, it has to be a place that would pose a real challenge to Trainers.'
Ash thought about places that he had a lot of difficulty traversing through in Kanto. He began remembering his travels through Kanto with May, Max, Brock and Misty.
Then it occurred to him, 'Does it have to be in Kanto?' Ash asked.
'Yes, it has to be in your native region.' Lance said.
'What about Mount Silver? That borders on the Johto and Kanto regions.' Ash asked.
'That's okay.' Lance said, 'So then, you want to make an arena and challenge point on Mount Silver, eh?'
Ash nodded. Gary nodded to Ash in approval. Lance grinned, 'All right then, we know where we're headed.'
Lance took out a Pokeball, 'Let's get going! DRAGONITE!' Lance's pokeball opened to unleash a large dragon pokemon.
'Come on Ash, we have to get flying!' Gary said, 'Go, SKARMORY!' A large metallic bird pokemon spread its bladelike wings.
'Okay, CHARIZARD! I choose you!' Ash called out, his pokeball opened up and a large orange dragon with a fiery tail appeared. 'Come on buddy, we're going to Mount Silver.'
Lance and Gary jumped onto the back of Dragonite and Skarmory respectively, the three large flying Pokemon took flight with their trainers as they made their way to Mount Silver.
